LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER JOURNEYS THROUGH LAND OF HER BIRTH WITH “JAMAICA UNCUT”

A Spring Exhibition

Markham, Canada… Under the Patronage of Jamaica’s Consul General Anne Marie Bonner, Heather Bubb-Clarke returns to the J. Elizabeth Gallery in Unionville from June 9-11, 2006 with her second photographic exhibition Jamaica UnCut.” Journeying down memory lane with her camera for a companion, Bubb-Clarke captures the raw, rustic, real Jamaica in her scenic images. For enthusiasts of Bubb-Clarke’s work, they will also be able to view over 18 of her brilliant canvas paintings for the first time.

Jamaican born Bubb-Clarke says of her new collection, “These are the things I loved looking at as a child, things that inspired me.” Her spring show presents a colourful symphony of nature’s correlations and contrasts. She says, “In nature’s studio the sun provides the lighting and the landscape performs unrehearsed for the camera and for my paint brush.”

Of her photographs, Bubb-Clarke says rather than manipulate the natural beauty around her, she allows the lens of her camera to tell the story and takes particular delight in the unexpected. Her extraordinary eye gives viewers the opportunity to see inside nature’s soul.  “I haven’t fixed or touched-up any of my pieces. They are in their raw, natural state.  My photographs are snapshots of the marvels of creation.”

Bubb-Clarke’s photo, TWO HEARTS, received an Editor’s Choice Award and will be published in the photographic journal, Endless Journey. The International Society of Photographers presented her with the Outstanding Achievement in Amateur Photography Award and Commemorative Award Medal. Another award-winning photo, THE TORCH, was selected from over 8500 entries for the Circle of Photographers Competition and will be published in the 2006 Photography Anthology.

Bubb-Clarke’s spring show follows the popularity and success of her winter photo art show in December.  All photo-art and paintings will be available for purchase.
