Jamaica National Building Society, Artist Robert Small, Join IMAGINE Team.

 

Visions of Science Network for Learning (VoSNL) is proud to announce premiere financial institution, Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) is now the lead sponsor of the IMAGINE Contests.

The IMAGINE sci-fi/ fantasy short story contest began in April 2006 to encourage youth to explore their creativity in the sci-fi genre.

The IMAGINE Poster Art Contest debuts in 2007, and will be judged by a two-man panel led by talented artist Robert Small of The Small Gallery.

 

VoSNL is pleased to welcome JNBS and Robert Small as new partners in the Network’s quest to promote science and technology to black and under-represented youth.

 

Francis Jeffers, Executive Director of Visions of Science states “that we look forward to reading and visioning the energy, spirit and generosity of mind of our young people across the country creating a positive and creative atmosphere around the Imagine contest.

 

Mr. Earl Jarrett, General Manager of JNBS Group says JNBS is proud to be a sponsor of (VoSNL) IMAGINE, “Programmes that enhance education at whatever level, have always been an area of keen interest for us.  We have welcomed many initiatives that seek to develop the creative ability of our youth, particularly in the area of science.”

JNBS is also the lead sponsor of the annual IMAGINE Anthology; a collection of the best stories and posters submitted to the Contests.

 

Artist Robert Small who is probably best known for his black history month poster series featuring prominent African-Canadians, is enthusiastic about IMAGINE, “I congratulate Visions of Science for their hard work over the years in expanding the horizons of our youth. I look forward to judging the poster submissions created by the imagination of the youth in our community!"

IMAGINE’s Judging panel includes author Sarah-Jane Elliott, storyteller Phyllis Walker, entrepreneur Luanga Nuwame and art teacher Peter Malone

 

VoSNL also welcomes a whole new slate of sponsors for 2007 including Bakka-Phoenix; Canada’s oldest science-fiction bookstore, Kisko Freezies, 3M Canada and GES Transport.
