TORONTO - Hip Hop is a style, a sound, and a state of mind.  
Focusing on the four main elements, DJing, MCing, Breakdancing and Graffiti, this festival seeks to go beyond the music and show the complexity of a still evolving cultural phenomenon.

As the popularity of Hip Hop continues to spread, its influence profoundly affects the international social dynamic.  
Global Hip Hop: The 4 Elements seeks to expand upon the four central components of Hip Hop and explore the parameters of this diverse art form and universal social platform.  
From July 27 to July 29, Global Hip Hop: The 4 Elements unites old school and new school Generations at Harbourfront Centre.  

Originators of the Hip Hop sound will re-unite for a concert to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the film WILD STYLE, presented by FIDO.  
A screening and Q & A with Director Charlie Ahearn will precede special performances from Grand Wizard Theodore, Busy Bee and the Fantastic Five, key figures who helped innovate Hip Hop.

International megastar Wyclef Jean will host a showcase of his emerging label, Sak Pas� Records.  
This extraordinary event will feature multiple performances and introduce the distinct sound of Hip Hop Creole to the Harbourfront Centre Concert Stage.  
Featured acts also include the incomparable Hypnotic Brass Ensemble; the visionary Montreal based collective Nomadic Massive; the poignant social rhymes from The Narcicyst of Euphrates; Cuban poetess and rapper Telmary;
 plus DJ Dopey and DJ Grouch display their limitless talents on the turntables.

Director Erin Offer will be on hand for a special screening of her film COUNTING HEADZ, an in-depth look at women in South Africa’s Hip Hop scene,
 as well as the Canadian Debuts for FROM MAMBO TO HIP HOP: A SOUTH BRONX TALE, which explores Latin American cultural influence on Hip Hop, and REMIXED IN JAPAN, a glimpse into the underground explosion of
 Hip Hop culture in Japan.  The open call dance competition, freeSTYLE is Toronto's first ever urban dance with live DJs, plus the 1st Annual SICK.SOUND.SYNDROME Beatbox Throwdown.
