The African Canadian Community Conversation
OTTAWA, HULL & SURROUNDING AREAS
The African Canadian Initiative on Full Participation and Capacity Building is
a three year pilot
project of the African Canadian Legal Clinic (ACLC) and funded by the Federal
Department of
Multiculturalism. The African Canadian Legal Clinic was established in 1994 and
is based in
Toronto. Its mandate is to address issues of racial discrimination, anti-Black
racism and other
human rights concerns on behalf of African Canadians.
As part of this National Initiative, we are pleased to invite you to an African
Canadian
Community Conversation in Ottawa on Saturday,
September 15, 2007 from 10:00 A.M. 4:00 P.M. at the Catholic
Immigration Centre on Argyle Street.
The purpose of this event is to identify critical issues and challenges faced
by the African
Canadian community of Ottawa and the Surrounding Areas and to build a NATIONAL
NETWORK to respond to issues of local and national importance to African
Canadians.
This Community Conversation will bring together local African Canadians from a
variety of
fields. There will be discussions on various topics and participants will have
an opportunity to
share their experiences and to dialogue with other community members.
Your participation will contribute greatly to the identification and
prioritization of critical policy
issues for the Black community. Contact person: TBA.
We look forward to your participation in this important National African
Canadian Initiative.
