Lots of family fun in December at Harbourfront Centre

hosts three fun and festive programmes for the entire family, along with 
yoga and djembe drumming for adults while the kids learn to skate on the 
Natrel Rink, as part of its exciting Courses & Workshops programme.

Winter Celebrations for Families
Families are invited to celebrate winter festivals from diverse 
cultures! A wonderful opportunity for families to come out of the cold 
and warm their hearts with stories, activities and food from 
cross-cultural winter customs.

Festive Lights and Decoration
Celebrate winter festivals from around the world! A fun-filled morning 
of arts and crafts where families make beautiful luminous decorations 
and keepsakes for the holidays, sample tasty festive treats and 
participate in stories, games and special activities to learn more about 
the winter festive season across the globe.
 
Saturday, December 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Festive Gifts for your Family
The greatest gift is one you make yourself! Families learn to make 
beautiful gifts that inspire the warmth of the season. From preparing 
festive sweets to designing their own gift wrap to making warm and cozy 
one-of-a-kind presents, this morning programme has families bursting 
with creative ideas for gift-giving and participate in games, activities 
and stories.
 
The cost is *$15 per session; *$10 for HarbourKIDS members. (*Price 
includes admission for 1 child plus 1 adult.) Additional children are

Other Goose: Recycled Rhymes for our Fragile Times
 
Saturday, December 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Barbara Klunder, whose illustrated Other Goose book is 
hot-off-the-press, and deals with modern issues like the environment, 
clean water, politicians and traffic in wicked rhymes, leads this 
exciting workshop. A rhyme from Other Goose is chosen to be the 
inspiration, from either the words or illustrations. Klunder emphasizes 
the important parts of good drawing: shape, line, and tone, using 
different drawing materials and different papers, focusing on each 
child's natural line. Klunder is a well-known illustrator and graphic 
designer, who teaches drawing at many arts institutions in Toronto, and 
has shown nationally and internationally. The cost is *$15; *$10 for 
HarbourKIDS members. (*Price includes admission for 1 child plus 1 
adult.) Additional children are $15; $10 for HarbourKIDS members.
 
While the Kids Learn to Skate!
 
Harbourfront Centre is pleased to offer a new set of workshops for 
parents/guardians while the kids learn to skate during its popular Learn 
to Skate programme on the Natrel Rink. These workshops take place just 
inside the building while the children take skating lessons.
 
Yoga
November 19 to December 5 (Mondays & Wednesdays, 6 to 7 p.m.)
January 7 to February 13 (Mondays & Wednesdays, 6 to 7 p.m.)
Parents learn how to end their day feeling revitalized, relaxed, 
stretched and strengthened all at the same time. They find out why yoga 
has been around for over 5000 years. This class is for all levels and 
one doesn’t need to be a pretzel to participate. The cost is $10 per 
session.
 
Djembe Drumming
November 19 to December 5 (Mondays & Wednesdays, 6 to 7 p.m.)
January 7 to February 13 (Mondays & Wednesdays, 6 to 7 p.m.)
Using authentic African Djembe drums, parents explore rhythm and hand 
drumming techniques, while learning the rich cultural history of 
drumming in Africa. The cost is $10 per session.
 
Learn to Skate
Session One begins on Monday, November 19 to Sunday, December 9 
Session Two begins on Monday, January 7 to Sunday, February 17, 2008
(Weather permitting). 
 
Lessons for children and adults of all abilities are taught by qualified 
instructors in small groups resulting in a comfortable environment and 
personal attention that ensures their success. Classes range from $55 to

Natrel Rink
November 17, 2007 to March 9, 2008 (weather permitting); 10 a.m. to 10 
p.m.; Friday and Saturday to 11 p.m.
 
The Natrel Rink launches its new season on Saturday, November 17 
(weather permitting). Enjoy music and picturesque waterfront 
surroundings at Canada’s largest artificially cooled outdoor rink. The 
Natrel Rink provides skate rentals, sharpening, change rooms and locker 
services. Adjoining the Natrel Rink, Lakeside EATS offers casual dining 
and hot and cold beverages.
